Integrating Teamtailor with Checkmate streamlines your candidate background screening process. Once set up, you can launch checks in Checkmate without leaving Teamtailor, and view the progress of checks directly within Teamtailor.
Checkmate integrations are configured at company level. To avoid any issues, we recommend completing the steps below using your company's Checkmate user account with the highest level of permissions.
Once you've completed setup, see Candidate checks via Teamtailor to get started.
Get your API key from Checkmate
- While signed in to your Checkmate account, navigate to your company settings by clicking your initials in the upper-right corner and selecting Company Settings.
- Navigate to the Integrations tab.
- Use the search field to find the Teamtailor card, or browse to it directly.
- Click the Manage details arrow to expand the section.
- Copy your API key from the Teamtailor card.

Enable the integration in Teamtailor
- While signed in to your Teamtailor account, navigate to Marketplace.
- Use the search field to find the Checkmate card, or browse to it directly.
- Select the Checkmate card.

- Click Activate.

- Paste your Checkmate API key in the Checkmate Token field and click Update.

Configure a job to trigger background checks automatically
Setting up a trigger on a job stage means Checkmate checks will be launched automatically when a candidate is moved into that stage.
- When creating a new job or editing a job, navigate to the Stages section.

- Navigate to or create the stage you want to trigger checks from.
- Click + Stage actions.

- Select Triggers from the pop-up list.

- Select Check Checkmate candidate from the adjacent pop-up list.

-
Select the type of check you want to apply. Choose either:
- Individual checks — select specific checks to apply to the candidate.
- Preconfigured bundles — select a bundle you have set up within your Checkmate account. Bundles configured in Checkmate will appear here automatically.
We recommend you choose one of these two options rather than the Multiple background checks option.

- Select your bundle or individual checks.

- If you'd like the candidate to be automatically moved to another stage when their Checkmate checks are complete, toggle on the Move candidate when complete switch and select which stage you'd like the candidate moved to when Checkmate completes their background checks.

- Click Add trigger.

- Once the trigger appears on the stage, click Save.

You can also add a trigger directly from the job view by clicking on the relevant job and following the same steps above.
