Frequently asked questions

Do I need to prepare for my drug screen?

No special preparation, such as fasting, is required.

What happens during the drug screen?

For a standard urine drug screen, you will be asked to provide a urine sample.

How long will the appointment take?

The collection itself generally takes only a few minutes once you are seen and are able to provide a sample. Your total visit time will depend on the collection site's wait time.

Do I need to pay anything at the collection site?

No. You should not be required to pay for the screening at the collection site.

Can I change my collection site?

In some cases, your Donor Pass can be used at another electronically enabled location within the same collection network. For example, a pass issued for a Quest Diagnostics location may be used at another Quest Diagnostics location, but not at a Labcorp location.

If you are unsure whether you can use a different location, contact the service provider on the Donor Pass before attending.

Do I need to book an appointment?

This will differ per clinic. Refer to the Participant Instructions on your Donor Pass.

What should I do if I miss my appointment or need to reschedule?

If your Donor Pass is still valid, contact the collection site to change your appointment.

If your Donor Pass has expired, contact your employer and ask them to order a new test.

How long do drug screen results take?

Negative results are generally available within 24–48 hours of collection. Results requiring additional laboratory testing or review may take longer.

If further information is required, a Medical Review Officer may contact you directly. Follow the instructions they provide and respond promptly.

How can I check the status of my screening?

When you complete your form in Checkmate, you will receive an invite to your Checkmate Candidate Portal. This is where you can view your results. Check here first to see whether the result file is ready.

Can I receive a copy of my results?

Yes. You can request a copy of your results by visiting your Checkmate Candidate Portal. You receive an invite to sign up to the portal when you submit your Checkmate form.

What happens if I have a medical marijuana card?

If you receive a positive result and advise that you hold a medical marijuana card, this may be noted on your result. The drug screen result will still be reported as positive, and the medical marijuana card is not verified as part of the screening process.
